Kindle Problems – Top Kindle Functional Problems
Kindle problems do happens, from time to time they may arise and it is an awkward time for every single user suffering this inconvenient. kindle problems vary from very simple to very complex, and the solution range is as wide as the problems. It could be a simple configuration, RTFM, or calling customer service for support help. We are going to try to enumerate the most common kindle problems that the vast majority of users could have. In this article we are going to be addressing common functional kindle problems.
Kindle Problems That Are Annoying
Kindle problems or inconveniences? In either case it could be a discomfort, like the fact of the kindle being a single user device. It is annoying to lend our kindle to a friend or relative and to realize that all our readings are going to be messed up once the device is returned. A Nice improvement could be the ability to allow multiple users to sign on a single kindle device with all of his books and bookmarks saved on a personal level, not the biggest of the kindle problems, but an painful one.
Next in line of the kindle problems is the lack of an easy location for the applications, even if the kindle comes with a simple web browser, finding any application or even an application store is cumbersome. Nevertheless there is no interface to use and manage applications, and this is indeed one of the most annoying kindle problems.
Continuing with the kindle problems, we got to mention that the dictionary application sucks. Currently only single words can be searched, and while this is better than nothing, it would be awesome for users like myself who love to search complex words or grammatical construction, to have the ability to search phrases or sentences. Hows that for another one of the known kindle problems?
Among the kindle problems that I personally hate is the assumption that amazon does regarding the eBooks themselves. I mean, once you buy an eBook you are taking directly to the first chapter to start reading, that could be nice, but if i want to take a look at the cover, index pages, or any other place, decorative one or not I have to manually go to the menu go-to and so on. In our humble opinion at least a global configuration option should be available for those people who love to see the artwork prior to get into the reading, you have to agree with us that while this is not another one of the biggest kindle problems, but an annoying one as well.
Another one of the known kindle problems is the existence of multiple tool bars. For a simple device that has as a main function for the end user to read books, this just seem to be too much, if a device is designed just to read eBooks, any extra feature, and particularly one that you don’t need too much is like an overkill for a simple task. Currently you can see at the very least two tool bars, and there is not a direct way to turn of the progress toolbar. how about that for another one of the many unneeded kindle problems?
Kindle problems can be anywhere, and not having many fonts to choose from certainly qualifies like one. Even if the two built in fonts are very much readable, we cant find a reason of not having many more fonts. If you are a book designer, you may want to test out which fonts suits the best. Simply not having this ability is one of the most inconvenient kindle problems in these days.
Kindle Problems – Free 3g Wireless is not really Free
Kindle problems can be a failure to deliver what is advertized. One of the most marketed features is the so called free 3g wireless, and this feature is not free at all! Certainly, the delivery of books over 3G is free if and only if you purchase books from the Amazon Kindle store. They’re sent to you wherever you are via Amazon’s Whispernet service. However, If you send your own books to the Kindle via Whispernet, you’ll be charged 15 cents per megabyte. Sending files is done by sending the eBook as an email attachment to a special email address Amazon gives you. Of course, you can transfer books for free using the USB cable, and also, you can send the book to an alternative email address Amazon give you that will only send the file when you’re using WiFi (and therefore for free). But the fact remains that the “Free 3G” isn’t actually free. This adds up to our list of kindle problems.
Back to font kindle problems, whenever you read a book with an odd format, one solution is to change the font size and see how well it reads, but as soon as you do it, the change takes place globally, meaning that if you switch to another book you will find the font that you have updated, with the new size in it, A nice addition is to have separate settings on the book level. This is another one of the disturbing kindle problems.
Design Kindle Problems Abound
Kindle problems from a design point of view are also present, The home button, should be accessible at all times. Instead of that it is buried on the bottom rows of keys, somewhere near the text size and the back key. Imagine this every time you want to go to your books index title. We are sure that most of these kindle problems could be fixed in the near future.
Kindle problems can come in the form of spam, yes, and I mean this because as a consequence of the publishing costs, which in many cases can be zero, many people have gotten into this wagon and publishing eBooks, there are even publishing platform offering their services, hopefully this won’t become the biggest one of the kindle problems.
More design kindle problems arise whenever you pick up your kindle, if you are like me, every time you pick up the Kindle you’re going to hit the page turn buttons. They’re right in the middle of the Kindle, duplicated on both sides of the unit, exactly where your fingers want to grip the device. The final outcome of this is losing your pages! and this is very annoying for me, since I have to remember and then to find the page I was reading, and If I haven’t read the book for a while it is very unpleasant. Hopefully amazon will be addressing many of these kindle problems in future versions.
